About Us

The Alexandra is a welcoming residential, 13-bed home in the charming, leafy area of Queens Park, Bournemouth. We provide assisted living and individual care packages for adults aged 18-65, including re-ablement programmes and transitional outreach.

Our purpose is

To support and care for individuals with enduring mental health problems and neurological conditions, promoting freedom of choice, dignity and independence and enabling recovery.

To ensure our service users are fulfilled in all aspects of their lives which includes support in their journey towards greater independence, day to day living skills, social and recreational activities, education or vocational training and achievement of their personal goals and aspirations.

To provide a safe, warm and loving environment that our service users can truly call home.

We have a dedicated team of staff that seek to promote and enable independence whilst always ensuring a caring, trusting environment. We also work with the local employers to arrange suitable volunteer and employment opportunities for our service users to aid rehabilitation.

We are rated “Good” by CQC and we have successfully passed monitoring inspection by Bournemouth Contracts Team.

Your Choice, Your Home.

We provide 24/7 person-centred care for adults (18+) with various mental health conditions, physical and neurological impairments. We offer long or short term stays, and respite care.

Every package of care is structured around the individual's personal beliefs and preferences. This approach is essential to maximising our residents' strengths and abilities, helping to achieve an optimum state of health in a safe, caring, relaxed and homely environment.

The Alexandra is proud to be a small, welcoming residence, helping to enable and maintain our high standard of care and a friendly, family-like atmosphere.

Our person-centered approach enables a flexibility when it comes to developing your individual package of care. We offer our service users both the required support and attention they need, whilst facilitating independence and freedom of choice.

We understand the importance of keeping in touch with friends and relatives, and voluntary befriending schemes are actively encouraged.

Promoting and enabling independence

Our dedicated team provide services including one to one and group trips, crafts and activities, and specialist sessions tailored to each individual.

In addition, we have our own flexible and dedicated transport facilities. Appointments, family engagements, outings or shopping trips can be fulfilled when help is needed.

Accommodation

We understand the importance of having your own personal space to feel comfortable, relaxed and at home. Whilst all our rooms come fully furnished, they needn't look the same. Clean, neutral decor is provided as standard, but we are happy to personalise upon request, and encourage residents to bring any favourite decorations and items of furniture with them.

Residents are encouraged to enjoy time in our spacious garden, conservatory and patio.

Encouraging life skills and choices

Kitchenette, Kitchen & Catering

As part of our efforts to provide choice and promote independence we have a Kitchenette for introducing residents to cooking, as well as a full kitchen and a flexible catering service available.
